Effective leadership: start with setting your goals

Success and personal growth expert Brian Tracy said, “People with clear, written goals, accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people without them could ever imagine.” When you manage your own organization, you accept the responsibility of leading and motivating other Associates and inspiring them to achieve results as soon as possible. Yet, leading can become impossible if you don’t have a good idea of where you’re going.

THREE STEPS TO SUCCESS:

Choose to become a leader. Some Associates reach a leader qualification without even trying, others enroll into the company with an immediate leader status. It is important to remember that being a leader means being responsible for other associates. Don’t become a leader to earn a badge, to merely go on stage to enjoy your round of applause, attend private training sessions, or make decisions that influence lives of thousands of people. Your main goal must be to help others change their lives for the better and to reach their personal and business goals! Ask yourself right now why you became a leader.

Where are you going?

You can’t lead others if you don’t know where you’re going. Take a moment today to sit down and set specific goals for your leadership and personal life. There are plenty of ways and models to follow to set goals. Many of them will help you decide what goals you are going to work on during the next couple of months, both as an Associate and as a Leader of an organization.

What are your team’s goals?

After setting your personal and leadership goals, work on developing your organization. Don’t set more than 3-5 goals and separate them into near-term and long-term goals. Identify the level of income and the number of new Associates you want in the next three months (don’t set goals for a longer period of time than this). Then, determine the monthly steps you’ll need to take to achieve both these goals and other smaller goals you’ll want to set. For example, focus on reorders first to increase your Unilevel bonus. Then, focus on enrollments of new Associates.
